Adolescent Emotional Health and Substance Abuse Counseling

In 1980 Challenge Discovery Projects has operated a licensed adolescent outpatient community clinic located in Richmond's East End. We provide counseling services for at-risk youth, ages 12-18, who face a multitude of challenges including substance abuse and emotional health issues. We are located in Church Hill at 719 North 25th Street and also operate out of the Community Resource Centers of Creighton Court, Fairfield Court, Gilpin Court, Mosby Court and Whitcomb Court.

Each individual is assessed using criteria for the placement and treatment of substance related disorders and emotional health issues. Based on the level of care determined, we develop an individualized treatment plan, which may include using additional community and public services. Therapy is designed to improve the emotional well-being of the client and includes evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral treatment, and motivational behavioral treatment. We adhere to the "13 Principals of Drug Addiction Treatment" (NIDA).

Challenge Discovery Projects works with at-risk children to help them develop socially, emotionally and academically. Our commitment extends to the parents, teachers and school administrators who work daily to strengthen children and provide a safe, nurturing environment in which they will learn and succeed.
